Featherplight is an eco-conscious couture collection inspired by the beauty of birds and the struggles they face as a result of human actions. The pieces contrast purity with menace, freedom with constraint, and vitality with decay to highlight ecological imbalance. Intricate textile manipulations, hand-beading, and structured forms reflect bird evolution and dispersal, while sheer layers convey fragility. Linear elements and beaded patterns symbolize ecological systems, fragmenting over time to signify disruption. The collection transitions from vibrant and balanced to asymmetrical and deconstructed, mirroring bird decline. Pieces are crafted from eco-conscious materials, including deadstock and repurposed scraps, with beading that ranges from 36 to over 300 hours per garment.

Featherplight employs intricate beading and fabric manipulation techniques to create evocative pleated and beaded textures, transforming fabric cutting scraps into feathery, tactile textiles. It embraces the time-intensive, luxurious nature of couture to rework and elevate materials—turning even discarded remnants into something precious. Delicate and dramatic colorscapes are achieved through hand-dyeing, custom painting, and ice-dyeing.
